The Modernized Jungle

Modernized Jungle is a vision that is an outcome of observing carefully our society, looking at our current problems, we as humanity are going through, a system to tackle those and move into the next stage of human evolution. It’s a beautiful mixture of art, invention, evolutionary strategies also keeping objective economy in mind. (Derived from a quote by R. Buckminster Fuller)

Our Mental states are greatly affected by our surroundings. We all require a safe space to call home to be able to contribute positively to our societies. One thing our technology driven social system is greatly lacking is a real affordable Space. We definitely are close to move into MetaVerse, where everything is virtual, but where real affordable spaces are getting out of reach of many. The Modern jungle tackles that and looks at an alternative form of housing, which is affordable and gives us plenty of time to work on our creatives pursuits rather than fulfilling the cost of existence.

Our coming generations are definitely more connected through social media, but many of us are living under constant anxieties looking at lavish lives that are shown through social media but in reality are pretty far from reality, we need to be change how we live so isolated in our homes, This is not how we live in The Modern Jungle, People come live closer to each other. There are friends nearby, and families are connected with shared spaces. We are re-imagining our living spaces such that they are connected to each other, close enough to have a healthy social circle yet provides enough space and privacy to work on your passions. We have a shared living rooms with neighbours but private offices. If we want people to live harmoniously together, we might just do it by bringing their living spaces together.

Keeping this principle our main guiding principal, the extensive plan is designed from the bottom up approach. As the nature has shown us before, functionality is always the basis of form.

Our society as a whole is governed by some common laws as a country. Our governance system being so huge it can sometimes neglect some minorities which don’t feel very safe living in our worlds, they need some safe space to live together, some of these groups are LGBTQ2S, racialized communities, People experiencing mental health challenges etc. Many groups of communities might agree on some laws and many might disagree with them. The Modern Jungle is divided into communities governed and overseen by the country but inside those communities, like-minded people have an option of self-governance and to create rules of their community which are made by agreeing opinions of the members of the community. Moreover communities may decide consciously about the kind of teachings they want for their kids. This system also aims to rethink our education system, a total revamp where kids are taught essential skills, a close care is given to every kid as families are involved in education of their kids rather than working on some 9-5 job.

Inside these large communities we have hexagonal sections called honeycomb pods, where people can decide to live together, There could be many reasons for to people may find it best to live close to each other, Let’s say they want to create something together, or have some great project to work together, Or they could be just going through similar life experiences, such as women and children fleeing situations of domestic violence. We will soon have a forum/ web app where you can discover like-minded individual and can decide to have a honeycomb pod together, get to know each other and then decide to be a neighbour. In case that doesn’t work out, you have the option to move along with your home to change your group, or change the community/city.

Having a universal form and system of housing will ensure many things, firstly you may easily move to a different city, bring your home with you and have a universal system to fit in the next community. Also universal designs creates housing that can work for everyone, allowing people to live in their homes longer. Each room is accessible, reduce future costs and it appeals to those who need special features – and to those who don’t.

What are these homes made up of?

A design so robust, which can’t be put together in a wrong way. Modular Kits, to tackle the shortage of experienced tradesmen, People may decide to either buy assembled units or may want to assemble themselves. Gives them a chance to work and build together. These Homes can be many things at once, They can also be setup as secondary dwellings in cities, The city of Barrie has recently introduced them into their by-laws, Toronto and Hamilton have provisions of laneway houses, Moreover there is a growing trend of THOWs (Tiny Homes on wheels), We intend to create a size flexible product , which will satisfy the requirements of numerous ways of living and have common building blocks, which makes the system economically viable and affordable at the same time. You are free to decide the size and features of the home that you want, and leave the ones you don’t. For eg. an extra bedroom is like an add-on, you may want it or may prefer a 1 bedroom or even a studio.

Best Place to implement these homes is a Mobile Home Park.

How we intend to reach our vision?

Mobile home parks are an excellent way to move forward with this vision, Trailer parks provide a place to call home in an affordable way, without creating a financial burden on our lives. Moreover We have existing guidelines and laws pertaining to mobile home parks and industry standards for constructions of these units.

We at our partner company ONEHOMES have experience in management of these. To tackle our current housing challenge, we need a very quick and easily replicatable system. So we need to re-think few things that hinder or slowdowns the quick implementation of this excellent solution to housing challenge. Such as rethinking how we manage our grey water and black water.

We found that there are 2 most important requirements to be able to setup a mobile home park. Firstly a great source of water supply, usually parks could use a well water, Secondly a sewage system to handle the waste water. We are looking at rethinking septic systems altogether, as lot of studies are involved in setting up of these and they do take a very long approval time.

In our first project, we have pre-approvals for septic system and there are existing water wells. Years of approval process is complete and very soon the ground will be stuck with the shovel, designing a home of the future, which is modular and can be designed as per your own requirements. Also this innovative home, is ready to be implemented in our grand vision of housing.

Also, we will be looking at some new methods to tackle waste water. By taking a closer look at innovative ways to re-harvest our grey water using plants, roots etc, and creating vegetation alongside re-harvesting our precious water. Black water could be dealt with similar new technologies, such as a composting toilet. Here in the image a roof top water re-harvesting and storage system is shown, as a bonus you get organic homegrown herbs and vegetables.

This system is mobile and also has lot of inside connectedness through inside spaces, which makes it ideal for implementing at harsh weather conditions, such as Canadian North (Places like Yukon, NW territories and Nunavut are in a great need of appropriate housing system), or Sahara Desert, Even in the space, We intend to make it a self-sustainable, with positive carbon footprint, Highly efficient using nothing but renewable sources of energy.

We humans are currently involved in lot of space explorations and we believe that day isn’t far when we will be setting up our colonies on Mars or The moon, we should be experimenting and looking at the ways how we intend to live in the future. If you have read that far, let us know, if you would want to be one of the first citizens of the Modern Jungle
